The following car routes are from Inverness, and from Fort William for those who prefer to travel the West coast route.

The first is over the famous Bealach na Ba (pass of the cattle). The views from this road, which reaches 626 m, are spectacular. However, in poor weather conditions, one of the alternative routes may be preferable.

The scenic route from Inverness through Glen Torridon provides views over Loch Maree (named after St Maelrubha of Applecross) and at its highest point between Achnasheen and Kinlochewe reaches 230 m.

If weather conditions are poor, then the recommended route from Inverness is via Lochcarron and the north coast road.

The most direct route from Fort William is over the Bealach na Ba, but again if weather conditions are poor, the alternative via Lochcarron and the north coast road is recommended.
